Metal Belts (Apron Type)

ORDERING GUIDE

Diamond also carries out consultancy in Metal Belts and their design and usage for various industries, and we would be happy to help you with any queries or consultancy that you may require. Full consultancy is also offered for companies who want to change over to apron type metal belts from existing belts such as wire mesh, synthetic belts etc.

POINTS TO CONSIDER :

Apron type metal belts are belts formed by hinging together two or more aprons to form a continuos metal belt.To select proper thickness, width, type of hinges, type of perforation etc. one should always consider following parameters :

1. The temperature in the chamber where the metal belts will be used.

2. The span of the machinery where the metal belts will be used.

3. The percentage of air flow /steam/ dry heat in the system.

4. The speed of the machine.

5. Any corrosive chemicals/acids etc. which may be used in the system.

6. The load on the belts (uniform/distributed).

Use the following table to select the type of hinges that should be used in metal belts:

type thickness a c dia-d
micro 1-2mm 2.64mm 3.70mm 1.6mm
medium 2-2.5mm 10mm 12mm 5mm
large 3-5mm 20mm 28mm 10mm

Deflection

Max. deflection, at center Y  =   5  W . L . L
384 E . I

y - deflection (sag)
L - span (width of equipment)
W - load on apron
E - modulus of elasticity of material
I - moment of inertia of cross section of apron
